Stephen,
I was bowled over by your a cappella renditions and played both "Amazing Grace" and "You've Got a Friend" on The Human Voice Show on KKUP on 9/29. I briefly highlighted your bio and noted my honest opinion that you're not only very talented but an over achiever. You're right-on pitch, amazing range, arrangements and smooth voice totally satisfy. Thanks for allowing me to play your music. We received enthusiastic phone calls from listeners. I wish you every success in everything that you do. Sincerely,
Rey Gonzalez

Dear Stephen,

This is a fairly long letter for an e-mail, so I hope it doesn't bore you.

I'm the blonde woman from the recent Hashanah services where you were a guest cantor who told you that your rendition of the song you sang as you walked down the aisle to the bema Saturday morning was the most beautiful and spiritually uplifting thing I have ever heard in all my life -- and that when I closed my eyes to listen to you and the choir, it sounded like music from heaven. There were also times that your voice reminded me, in a poignant way, of the "crying" sound of the shofar.

I'm wondering especially if you have that first song on a CD. I would like to be able to hear it over and over again.

[Hin'ni is available at http://www.saxon.com/cantor]

I'm also trying to learn how to sing the Sabbath songs from the Siddur in Hebrew and wondered if you have a CD with a compilation of those songs on it.

[http://www.saxon.com/cantor also has a few pieces from the Shabbat service I recorded for my students in 2006]

Finally, I wanted you to know that I liked hearing your rendition of "Amazing Grace" on this website -- and appreciated the fact that you included it among all the beautiful Jewish songs here.

I believe that there are more and more Christians who are coming to appreciate the Hebraic roots to their faith, and who would appre- ciate someone who sings both types of songs so beautifully.

That is how it is with me. Several years ago I was one of 50 teachers in the nation selected to go to Poland and Israel to learn about the Holocaust -- and things I learned both while and after trying to put together a commpre-hensive curriculum about it for my students changed my life.
As a History and Literature teacher who, on a personal level, also loves the Bible, I came to believe that a "de-Judaizing" of Christianity that began largely around the time of Constantine not only provided the roots and rationales for the horrors of the Holocaust, but also left the Church bereft of a rich and beautiful heritage that was lost, stolen, or strayed, thus causing
it be cut off from its own roots.

Also, years later, after I, as a Christian, had already come to love and respect Jews, Judaism and the Hebrew language, I learned that my both my mother's grand-parents had been Jewish.

Thus, I know, love, and respect the things that are beautiful within BOTH worlds -- and deeply appreciate anyone or any thing that helps bridge the chasm between them.

Thank you for having come to the synagogue in our city.

Sincerely, Carol

I bookmarked your website when your Aunt Susan got sick. My mother, Ruth Herson, was a first cousin to your father, Susan, David and Bobby. I was just listening to the youtube Kol Nidres and found yours. I listened to all 6 of your postings. Very nice!

Steve,
I was pleasantly surprised to run accross your name and info on the CASA website. It's been a long time....way back to Redwood High School days. I'm still teaching...three years remaining until retirement. I'm a staff Musical Director for Holland America Cruise Line, do lots of different musical gigs (piano, voal. musical director, conductor, ect)...and still love it all. Igf you get a chance, drop me a line. It is always great to see and hear tha a former music student is working in the business and doing well. Regards, Gary.

Just stumbled across your website and loved the downloads. Your style and delivery of the covers you do are unique and very pleasing to the ear. I will visit your site again to see if any further downloads are available.I can't see you live as I am in the UK but will watch and listen with interest. By the way as you will have guessed by the guest entry I am not only Stephen Saxon but I am told we look very similar too

Stephen, It was great talking to you today. I hope someday that Congregation Shir Shalon can have you as a guest Cantor. I still remember hearing you in Seabastpol 6 years ago and falling in love with your voice...the rest of you is not bad either... What happened to the kletzermer band?Did you all make a CD. Have you ever thought of doing a show at the JCC in San Francisco? Please add me to your email list so I can come and see you preform sometime soon. Great talking to you! Bonnie Lasky
